It’s been a while since I posted an update on the HEMIWagon, as I’ve been using the SL as a DD, though it’s been putting up an admirable fight. More on the SL in a few days.
The HEMIWagon is getting a serious makeover currently! Here it is, next to the Blubaru.
Here’s a GIS photo summary of things that are happening to the HEMIWagon:
Front and rear brake pads and rotors, front and rear coilovers, front, rear and diff bushings, and 5 spoke steel wheels.
Finally getting the winter tires off, and the Firehawks back on. It’s going to be a whole new animal once I get it back (the downsides of having a really long commute and long hours is that I have little time to work on my own car now).
I’ll be fixing the body panel alignment of the hood and fenders soon too. Soft mallet, blocks of wood, and a lot of patience.
And the sneak peek at the other mod that I’m going to be doing:
It’s going to be a real good summer for this car.

I need to do that on my Ranger at some point, The passenger side bump stop was adjusted a bit high and now that side of the hood sits higher than the drivers side. Any tips or tricks?

Good to see you're giving your wagon some love. I hope it all goes well!

Bump stops should literally just be like a screw. Grab a large open end wrench and turn it to be the correct height. For me, the hood is off of a different car, and the bumper was replaced, so the panels don’t, and probably will never be perfect, but I just need to get some of the the panel gap gone. It just needs to be better than it is for me to be happier.
I’m also going to re-mount my license plate to being mounted directly under the grill. I just can’t stand how it looks where it is anymore.

Should be pretty simple.

Oh I know its just a screw, But the hood is now bent slightly because of the misaligned bump stops. So I need to do something about that. And I need a license plate bracket as well, legally I have to say that. Realistically though, I think I’ll keep it in the windshield.

I’m going to use a block of wood in the middle, and slowly/carefully push down from the sides in order to level it out a bit. Ideally, the hood just has to follow the lines across the top of the bumper, and the headlights.
I’m going to pinch and work the inside of the fenders by hand to match the hood when that’s done, and it should be fine.
